Cross-country skiing in the Brixental: trails from Brixen im Thale

From the leisurely valley trail to the snow-sure high-altitude trail at 1,300 metres: the most beautiful cross-country trails around Brixen im Thale – most of them free of charge.

Why cross-country skiing in the Brixental is so relaxing

The Brixental is a wide, sunny valley – perfect for cross-country skiers who prefer gliding to struggling. The trails run through snowy meadows, along the Brixentaler Ache river and through small hamlets, with views of the Kitzbühel Alps. And best of all: almost all trails in the valley are free of charge.

The Brixentaler Langlaufloipe – the classic in the valley

At 17.9 kilometres, the Brixentaler Langlaufloipe is the big loop in the valley. It is rated easy, has only around 100 metres of ascent and reaches its highest point at 851 metres. Allow about 3.5 hours if you ski the whole route – but you can shorten it or turn back at any time.

The Höhenloipe Brixen – snow-sure at 1,300 metres

When snow is scarce in the valley, the high-altitude trail is the best choice. You reach it with the Hochbrixen gondola directly from Brixen im Thale. The trail is 2.8 kilometres long, easy, with around 142 metres of ascent, and is groomed for classic and skating. Thanks to its altitude, the tourist board says snow conditions often stay good well into spring.

You need a lift ticket for the high-altitude trail. Right at the start, the SkiWelt Hütte Hochbrixen invites you to take a break with a view.
