Ski school & ski rental in Brixen im Thale: onto the slopes stress-free

First ski course, fine-tuning your technique or just the right rental equipment: how to plan ski school and rental in Brixen im Thale without stress – with our tips for families.

Learning to ski in the SkiWelt

The SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental is certified as a family-friendly ski area and has its own children’s areas where the little ones learn their first turns through play. With a large share of easy pistes, beginners have plenty of room to practise without having to tackle steep slopes straight away.

Finding the right ski school

There are several ski schools in Brixen im Thale and the neighbouring villages. Most offer:
- Children’s courses in small groups, often with lunchtime supervision
- Adult and beginner courses, also for returners
- Private lessons – ideal for working on your technique
- Snowboard courses and in some cases freeride or touring courses

Our tip: compare meeting points, group sizes and course times. A meeting point near the valley station in Brixen saves time in the morning – especially with children.

Ski rental: hire your equipment locally

Renting is worthwhile, especially if children are growing or you only ski occasionally. Sports shops in Brixen im Thale, Kirchberg and Westendorf rent skis, snowboards, boots and helmets. Many also offer online reservations – so your equipment is ready when you arrive.

  • Ski boots are the most important thing: take your time trying them on.
  • A helmet and goggles are a must for children – and highly recommended for adults.
  • Ask about an upgrade if you want to ski more sportily after the first few days.

At the Ottenhof: short distances, warm boots

With ski-in & ski-out via the valley run you save yourself carrying your equipment every day. In the ski room with boot dryer your skis and boots are well looked after overnight – and in the morning you slip into warm, dry ski boots.

How to make your ski course week relaxed

  • Book early: courses are quickly booked up during the Christmas, carnival and Easter holidays.
  • Rent on the day you arrive, so that the first course day can start on time.
  • Plan breaks: half days are often enough for children.
  • Reward: a hot chocolate at the Glühbirnstadl at the farm after the ski course. To the Glühbirnstadl
