Skiing in the SkiWelt: ski-in & ski-out from Brixen im Thale

275 kilometres of pistes, nine villages, one ski pass – and from the Ottenhof you ski straight in via the valley run. Our guide to your ski holiday in the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental.

The SkiWelt – one of Austria’s largest ski areas

The SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental links nine villages into one interconnected ski area, including Brixen im Thale, Westendorf, Hopfgarten, Itter, Söll, Scheffau, Ellmau and Going. 275 kilometres of pistes await you – most of them blue and red runs, ideal for relaxed ski days with plenty of variety. Add to that ski routes, three fun parks, floodlit pistes for night skiing and a certified family-friendly offer with children’s areas.

As many pistes have snowmaking, the SkiWelt is easy to ski even in weeks with little snow. According to the lift company, the 2026/27 season runs from 5 December 2026 to 4 April 2027.

Ski-in & ski-out: your ski day starts at the front door

What makes the Ottenhof special: you need neither a car nor the ski bus. Click into your skis, take the valley run (1b) to the lift – and you are right in the middle of the ski area. The Jochbahn lift is only about 20 metres from the farm as the crow flies. In the afternoon you ski back the same way to our door.

  • No carrying skis and boots, no hunting for a parking space
  • Be early on the freshly groomed pistes while it is still quiet
  • Warm up at lunchtime? The farm is never far away
  • Ski room with boot dryer – warm, dry ski boots every morning

Our favourite routes through the SkiWelt

For your first day: around Hochbrixen

Around Hochbrixen you will find wide, well-groomed pistes for warming up. In winter Hochbrixen is also home to the Alpeniglu village – worth a detour, also for a break.

For mileage hunters: towards the Wilder Kaiser

Over time you will be drawn further towards Söll, Scheffau and Ellmau – always with the Wilder Kaiser in view. Allow plenty of time for the big round and keep an eye on lift closing times so that you get back to Brixen safely in the afternoon.

For experts: the Choralpe in Westendorf

If you like it steep, the black Choralpe run on the Westendorf side has a gradient of up to 80 %.

Ski pass, ski school & rental

You can buy day and multi-day passes at the SkiWelt ticket offices or online. Network passes such as the Snow Card Tirol are also valid in the SkiWelt. If you are just starting out or want to refine your technique, you will find ski schools and rental shops right in Brixen im Thale – more in our article Ski school & ski rental in Brixen im Thale.

And after the last turn?

With us, the ski day ends where it began: at the Glühbirnstadl right at the farm, on the valley run. Sun, music, a mulled wine or a cold beer – and your room is only a few steps away. To the Glühbirnstadl

Good to know
